Coats, Coats and more Coats

Okay, I know it is late Spring and the weather is getting nice and warm.  The last thing you are thinking about is probably a nice Winter coat.  In fact, the thought of cold weather sends chills down my back.  However, you know the best time to get a deal on something is when it is out of season.



Take this Leopard print coat.  It is gorgeous on both of these ladies.  I can't believe Bertha didn't buy this, but it was early Spring and she didn't think she needed a Winter coat. 

WRONG!!!


I on the other hand bought one like this, except it had a belt with a bakelite buckle, and wore it to a Chamber of Commerce function this past December.  Remember cold weather will come again but a one of a kind vintage coat is not easily acquired.


As you can see below, vintage coats can be subtle or quite dramatic, either way they are well made.  Stephanie's tan coat is Cashmere and Jenny's coat has a Mink collar and matching hat.  Both of these coats could be worn to any event you might have coming in the future or maybe just going to Church.

Or....maybe you just want to have a little fun!

What do they have at a Vintage Fashion Show?

If you have never attended a Vintage Fashion Show then first of all, you have really missed out.  Secondly, you might wonder exactly what kind of things are there?  Since vintage items are not plentiful you may never have the same exact item twice.  There are lots of hats and gloves, gorgeous purses, dresses, and usually mink stoles.  The most abundant item is of course the jewelry.

Has romance died?

Did you know that romance books are some of the top selling books?  Would we rather read about romance than actually live it?  I have to admit that I am guilty of sleeping in a tee shirt and shorts.  My sister, Zolligirl has even been known to sleep in a warm hat.  Don't you find that kind of sexy?  I can hear the men in our lives screaming, NO, NO, NO!!!   Maybe that is just mine I hear.

Okay, I admit that these are beautiful.  I would even admit that these are sophisticated and romantic.

But would you go so far as to say sexy?

YES, YES, YES!!!

Is that our men screaming again, or is "When Harry met Sally" on?

The Hat Series

  Let me introduce to you "MoonPie".   A very special young lady who has been attending the Vintage Fashion Show since before she could walk.  As you can see, I think she might have been influenced by what she has seen.

Did you ever play dress-up as a child?  Believe me I did, but I did not have a Grandmother that had a whole house full of vintage clothes, hats, gloves, and purses to try on.

 
Next let me introduce to you "Blazing Beauty" or B.B. for short.  Look at the expressions on her face, can you tell she is having a blast?

Wait a minute, what do we have here?

Looks like you don't have to be a child to enjoy playing dress-up, well maybe a child at heart.  These two ladies attend the Fashion Show on a regular basis and never pass up the opportunity to try on a few things.  With a hat like that who could resist?  

 I am beginning to think age might not be a factor. 

Wonder what would make me think that????

Let's Party!

Have you noticed that a lot of movie stars and even the President's wives are wearing vintage clothing?  Of course the clothes are beautiful but maybe there is another reason. No one else will show up wearing the same outfit you have on, like they did at my Senior Prom.  Let's face it, we ALL want to be unique.

  

You would definitely be the hit of the party in either of these dresses. And I can't imagine anyone else showing up in Stephanie's outfit below.  The matching coat is really fantastic.  Can't you just imagine wearing this to an inauguration?  Adorable!

 Who needs a Black and White Store, we have vintage.  Gloves...check, purse...check, cigarette holder...check!   

Jodi might have partied a little too much, but she sure looks great!

Pretty in Pink

 

A picture is worth a thousand words.   These girls really shined in their pink outfits.  Love, love, love the mink wrap and the gloves just scream "elegance".  Why don't we dress like this anymore?  

 Truly glamorous!  Chelsea  looks like a movie star in this mink stole, which by the way sold for $42.00.  Really, have you seen what you can buy these days for $42.00?  That was a steal.  Stephanie looks like she just stepped out of a Hollywood movie in this teal gown and peach boa.   The gown didn't sell, so maybe it will be in the Virginia show.  That should get the men to want to attend.

Stephanie, Alex and Stevie all look fantastic.  Stephanie looks like she could do the Charleston, Alex is ready for  a school dance and Stevie is prepared to go dancing in the rain.

The 3rd annual Vintage Fashion Show was held this past Saturday and it was a hit.  As you can see a lot of women turned out for early shopping to get the "good stuff". 

There were hats, dresses, gloves, purses and  lots and lots of jewelry in the show.  All the items have a selling price but if more than one person wants an item, then the bidding wars start.

This outfit was super cute and several women wanted it.  The dress, hat and purse were all originally priced for a total of $48.00.  However, one determined Grandmother wanted the outfit for her (lucky) Granddaughter and ended up with all the pieces for $191.00. 

 Both of these outfits started another bidding frenzy.  These two sisters really know how to make each dress look its best.  I would buy those dresses if I could look like that.
